From the Glaciers

img_0089img_0088The glaciers are really stunning, pieces break off  with a loud crack! and plunge into the lake below with a loud crash and form icebergs. It is also cold here, but not so bad and it gets warmer north. Imet up with an American couple, we are staying at the same place, they sold their house , bought 2 kawasaki KLR bikes and headed south. They left Seattle in November, so they are a wealth of info for further north. And nice people too. I head north tomorrow in to the wildlands along the ruta 40, it is like the Karoo for about 1500 km all dirt road and harsh. Hopefully I’ll be in Barriloche in 3 days, thats where I’ll do the next update. Yea! I went out but the Irish pub was closed, so Ifound a local pub and had Beagle beer on tap, this beer really tastes like more, the best I have tasted. Tomorrow is where the real test starts, hopefully the wind will drop, so far so good! Adios

Keep those ‘updates’ flowing; your following is increasing in number, but don’t expect them all to answer. John Fleming said you missed some good ‘Sea trout’ fishing in Rio Grande, and Di Carter says Jack enjoyed Barriloche. Like Chris, I follow using Google to fill in on the local detail and make use of Reader’s Digest Atlas to pin point your position, with Mum peering over my shoulder.

Safe travels Bruce, hope the wind isn’t too hectic! Off to watch SA v Aus 20/20 tonight…should be good fun – unless we get a hiding. Will let you know how we fare against the Brumbies tomorrow. Enjoy…your trip sounds amazing and I am very jealous!

    Hola Bruce

I am fascinated to hear that you met up with a couple from Seattle going the other way. Do hope they persuaded you to come west of the Rockies on your road to Anchorage. We have a bed and Guiness. I can turn round in my chair in my office and look at my large world map and sewe where you are. Take care

    Hi Bruce
SA won the 20/20 and sharks whacked the brunbies. You learn about wind but it will be less now.
Wher did you stay on the way south.
